Open Casting Calls: Week of October 13, 2026

8 min read

At TJF Talent, staying ahead of the opportunity curve is part of what we do. Every week, our team scours the industry's most trusted platforms — Backstage, Casting Networks, Actors Access, Playbill, and beyond — so our talent and the broader creative community have a reliable, curated list of what's open right now. Whether you're an actor hunting your next role, a musician ready to step into a full-time performance contract, or a model looking to diversify your portfolio, here is what's casting this week.

1. "First Round" — Independent Sci-Fi Horror Feature (Texas Talent Welcome)

What they're looking for: Principal roles for a coming-of-age sci-fi horror feature about young athletes recruited to an elite academy where a secretive technology company is manipulating their consciousness. Two lead roles — Iris Bell (female, 18–30) and Marcus Vale (male, 18–30) — plus four supporting roles. Nonunion. Both male and female performers are needed.

How to submit: Through Backstage (backstage.com). Search "First Round" by BnP Productions. The full breakdown, self-tape directions, and character packets are available on the listing.

Deadline: October 18, 2026

Why this one stands out: The casting breakdown explicitly lists Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and College Station as talent sources — TJF clients across Texas should move on this now. Lead rates are $1,000 per day with a $10,000 estimated total, and supporting roles pay up to $4,500. The filmmaker, Robert Lin, is an award-winning MFA graduate whose work has screened in Los Angeles, New York, and Milan. This is a legitimate, well-resourced indie with real credits on the other side.

2. Funny Bilingual Attorney Commercials — TV Commercial (San Antonio / Austin / Brownsville, TX)

What they're looking for: A wide range of bilingual (Spanish and English) talent for a local law firm's upcoming commercial campaign. Roles include bilingual speaking parts for women (ages 25–45, $500 flat) and men (ages 30–59, $300 flat), a lead Granny role (female, 55–80, $500 flat), a Little Girl lead (female, 6–10, $700 flat), teen baseball players (male, 13–18), child extras (6–10), and background extras of various ages. Extras do not need to be bilingual, but all speaking roles require fluency in both languages. Nonunion.

How to submit: Through Backstage (backstage.com). Search "Funny Bilingual Attorney Commercials" by Bennett Creative. Producer Andrew Bennett has 110 jobs posted and a verified background check.

Shoot dates: October 21–23 in Austin, TX. Deadline: October 20, 2026.

Why this one stands out: This is one of the most San Antonio-relevant calls active right now. The production is explicitly sourcing talent from San Antonio, Austin, and Brownsville, it pays on a fixed flat rate, and there are roles for an unusually wide range of ages — including kids and seniors. If you or anyone in your family is bilingual and camera-ready, this week's deadline makes this urgent.

3. "Strangers in a Cabin" — Psychological Thriller TV Pilot (Texas)

What they're looking for: Eight principal roles for a slow-burn psychological thriller pilot about five strangers lured to an isolated East Texas cabin, each connected to a tragic death they tried to forget. Lead roles include Lila Chen (female, 18–30), Tyrese Coleman (male, 18–30), Maria Alvarez (female, 18–40), Ethan Blackwood (male, 18–40), and Jenna Moore (female, 24–35), plus supporting roles. Nonunion. Actors should be comfortable with emotionally intense material and outdoor shoots. No nudity or explicit content.

How to submit: Through Backstage (backstage.com). Search "Strangers in a Cabin." Self-tape packets for individual roles are available on the listing. All roles include meals, lodging if traveling, and an IMDb credit.

Film dates: End of October or November 2026. Deadline: October 26, 2026.

Why this one stands out: Pays $257 per day with up to $1,285 total per role — fair rates for an independent pilot — and the project is actively sourcing from Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas. The East Texas setting also means proximity matters. If your strength is dramatic ensemble work or you have a background in theater and stage drama, this project was written for actors like you.

4. The Baby-Sitter's Club Musical — Broadway Developmental Workshop (NYC Equity EPA)

What they're looking for: Equity actors for principal roles in a staged developmental workshop of a new musical based on Ann M. Martin's beloved book series. The story follows the original BSC members reuniting at age 25. Seeking Kristy, Mary Anne, Claudia (Japanese American), and four flexible ensemble roles (two female, two male) who play a wide range of characters. All leads need strong contemporary pop/folk-rock vocals (think Indigo Girls). Prepare a short up-tempo song in that style; bring a headshot and resume stapled together.

How to submit: In-person EPA only. Audition date: Tuesday, October 20, 2026, 9:30 AM–1:30 PM. Location: Actors' Equity New York Audition Center, 165 W 46th St, 16th Floor, New York City.

Pay: $656 weekly minimum (Special Agreement). Workshop dates: November 30–December 17, 2026.

Why this one stands out: TheaterWorksUSA is one of the most respected developmental companies in the country, and a workshop credit with them is a real résumé line. The casting team from The Telsey Office is involved. If you're an Equity member with pop/folk vocal chops and you can be in New York on October 20, this is exactly the kind of developmental opportunity that launches careers.

5. "Clue 2: Another Bloody Murder" — Equity Video Submission (STAGES St. Louis)

What they're looking for: Equity actors for a new production of the sequel to the beloved murder-mystery comedy at STAGES St. Louis, one of the most respected regional theaters in the country. This is an open Equity video submission call, meaning you do not need to travel to St. Louis to audition.

How to submit: Video submissions via stagesstlouis.org. Search the production title through Playbill's job board (playbill.com/jobs) for the full breakdown and submission instructions. Submission deadline: Monday, October 26, 2026.

Why this one stands out: A video submission format makes this accessible from anywhere in Texas. STAGES St. Louis is a Tony-honored regional theater, and a credit there carries real industry weight. If comedy and ensemble mystery work are in your wheelhouse and you hold your Equity card, this is a submission worth spending an afternoon on.

6. "Texas Sins" — Independent Feature Film (Texas, Paid Lead Role)

What they're looking for: A lead male actor, ages 45–50, to play Jeremiah Cormier — a Texas Ranger made famous for catching a notorious serial killer, whose world is turned upside down when the convicted man is later proven not guilty. The film is a crime/mystery/thriller shooting in Crockett, TX and surrounding areas. Nonunion.

How to submit: Through Backstage (backstage.com). Search "Texas Sins." Shoot dates: Rehearsals and filming Spring 2027 (approximately 2 months). Pay: Up to $3,500.

Why this one stands out: Rarely does a Texas-set feature with a built-out script and a defined lead character stay on the board this long — this project is actively developing its cast. For a male actor in his mid-to-late 40s with range and presence, a Texas Ranger lead credit in a feature-length thriller is exactly the kind of work that moves a career forward.

7. Actor-Singers for Broadway and National Tour Principal Replacements

What they're looking for: Exceptional male and female Equity actor-singers for future principal replacement roles in an upcoming Broadway production and its national tour. Looking for versatile Equity performers with strong acting and singing abilities and the stage presence required for a high-profile production.

How to submit: Open call auditions in New York. Submit through entertainersworldwidejobs.com for access to the full company and submission details. Auditions are October 20, 2026 in New York City. Submission window: Open through October 19, 2026.

Pay: $2,799 per week minimum (Broadway) / $2,599 per week minimum (National Tour).

Why this one stands out: Broadway minimum rates on a principal replacement contract are among the best consistent wages in performing arts. If you're an Equity actor-singer actively seeking principal work and you can travel to New York this week, this call is worth the trip.

8. "Not Just a Kiss / Top G and the Fellas" — Short Film (San Antonio, TX)

What they're looking for: One supporting female role — Rhonda, ages 22–32 — for a short comedy film with a meaningful mission. The project portrays an authentic romantic moment involving a person with a disability, a perspective rarely seen on screen. San Antonio and Austin talent are prioritized.

How to submit: Through Backstage (backstage.com). Search "Not Just a Kiss." Shoot dates: San Antonio, TX. Dates TBD depending on casting timeline. Pay: Up to $350.

Why this one stands out: This films right here in San Antonio, which means no travel, a real local credit, and the chance to be part of a project with genuine social purpose. Short films with distinctive subject matter and strong execution are exactly what film festivals respond to. If you're a female actor in your 20s–early 30s who connects with character-driven material, this one is worth a look.

9. "Good Luck, Holly!" — Student Film (Texas, Lead Female Role)

What they're looking for: A lead female or nonbinary role, ages 22–34 — Holly, a woman with OCD who trades her good luck charm to buy a wedding ring and must find a way to propose before the New Year. Also casting a supporting male/nonbinary role (23–34) and a supporting female (25–35). Texas-based talent across Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Fort Worth.

How to submit: Through Backstage (backstage.com). Search "Good Luck, Holly!" Shoot dates: November 20–22, Austin, TX.

Why this one stands out: Student films are where actors build their reel, and a romantic comedy lead with clearly defined character work is exactly the kind of material that makes a strong self-tape clip. The Thanksgiving-week shoot is tight but achievable for Texas-based talent, and a film school crew typically brings technical quality well above a self-produced project.

10. RWS Global — Musician and Vocalist Auditions for Cruise Ships and Live Events

What they're looking for: Musicians and vocalists for ongoing cruise ship and live event contracts with RWS Global, one of the largest entertainment production companies in the world. Programs span Holland America Line, Azamara Cruises, MSC Cruises, and more. They seek performers across a range of disciplines including guitar vocalists, pianists, classical ensembles, pop/contemporary performers, and singer-dancers.

How to submit: Visit rwsglobal.com/auditions to fill out the audition form and submit materials to their casting team directly. Auditions are ongoing and rolling.

Why this one stands out: For musicians who want consistent, full-time performance work with competitive pay and international travel, RWS Global is one of the most trusted pipelines in the industry. They recruit year-round, and Texas-based musicians who are ready to commit to a contract period have as strong a shot as anyone based in New York or LA. If performing live is your livelihood and you've been looking for a step up, this is worth submitting to this week.

Before You Submit: A Word on Protecting Yourself

The opportunities above are sourced from Backstage, Playbill, Casting Networks, and other platforms with real legitimacy standards — but as you search on your own, keep these rules close.

Never pay to audition. Legitimate casting calls do not charge submission fees, registration fees, or headshot fees as a condition of auditioning. If a listing asks for money to apply, it is not a real opportunity. Walk away.

Read the breakdown carefully before taping. A generic self-tape rarely advances. Take 10 minutes to understand exactly what the project is asking for and shoot your tape to match that specific request.

Keep your materials current. An outdated headshot or a cluttered résumé undercuts a strong submission before anyone watches your tape. If you're not sure yours are ready, ask your rep.

Act this week. Several of the calls above have deadlines before Sunday. Waiting until the weekend is waiting too long.
